The Eten district (alternative spelling: Etén district ) is located in the Chiclayo province in the Lambayeque region in northwest Peru . The district extends over an area of ​​84.78 km². The 2017 census counted 11,993 residents. In 1993 the population was 11,195, in 2007 10,673. The district administration is based in the m high town of Eten with 10,539 inhabitants (as of 2017). Eten is located on the south bank of the Río Chancay immediately above its confluence with the Pacific Ocean. Eten is also located 15 km south of the city center of the regional and provincial capital Chiclayo . A well-known personality who comes from Eten was Pedro Ruiz Gallo (1838-1880).

The Eten District is on the Pacific coast. A narrow coastal strip that forms the Puerto Eten district separates the central area of ​​the district from the sea. The settlement area is in the far west of the district. Otherwise the district consists of desert. The district Eten borders in the northwest to the districts of Santa Rosa and Monsefú , on the north by the district Reque and the east by the district Lagunas .
