The Monsefú district is located in the Chiclayo Province in the Lambayeque region in northwestern Peru . The district has an area of ​​44.94 km². The 2017 census counted 32,225 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 27,986, in 2007 30,123. The seat of the district administration is the city of Monsefú .

The Monsefú district is located in the coastal plain of northwestern Peru, south-southwest of the city of Chiclayo . The last 19 kilometers of the Río Chancay before it flows into the Pacific Ocean form the southern district boundary. The Monsefú district extends to within a few meters of the coast. The main town Monsefú is located 12 km south-southwest of the city center of Chiclayo. Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the district.

The Monsefú district borders on the Santa Rosa district to the west, the La Victoria district to the north, the Chiclayo and Pomalca districts to the northeast , and the Reque , Eten and Puerto Eten districts to the south .
