The Santa Rosa district is located in the Chiclayo province in the Lambayeque region in northwestern Peru . It was founded on August 2, 1920. The district has an area of ​​13.6 km². The 2017 census counted 12,350 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 8,641, in 2007 10,965. The district administration is based in the coastal town of Santa Rosa with 12,180 inhabitants (as of 2017). The district is roughly the same as the city.

The Santa Rosa district is located on the Pacific coast in northwestern Peru 15 km southwest of the city of Chiclayo . The district is part of the metropolitan area of ​​the provincial and regional capital. In the south, the district extends to the mouth of the Río Chancay (Río Reque).

The Santa Rosa district borders in the northwest on the Pimentel district , in the north on the La Victoria district , in the east on the Monsefú district and in the southeast on the Eten district .
