Dolné Kočkovce (Hungarian Alsókocskóc ) is a place and a municipality in the Okres Púchov of Trenčiansky kraj in northwest Slovakia . The number of inhabitants as of December 31, 2019 was 1218.
geography
The community is located on the left bank of the Waag in the wider Waag Valley, only four kilometers from the town of Púchov .
history
The place is mentioned for the first time in 1332 in relation to a parish. In 1462 separate villages Horné Kočkovce and Dolné Kočkovce appear. In the Middle Ages there was a salt market and a royal salt store in the village. The main occupation of the inhabitants was agriculture, beekeeping and fishing.
1980–1990 the municipality belonged administratively to the city of Púchov.
In 2001 a new Roman Catholic church was completed.
