Horovce (Hungarian Horóc ) is a municipality in northwest Slovakia , with 852 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Púchov , part of Trenčiansky kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the Považské podolie valley on the eastern edge of the White Carpathians on a river terrace of the Váh . The Kvašov brook flows on the southwestern edge of the village. The center of the village is at an altitude of 252 m nm and is nine kilometers from Ilava and 11.5 kilometers from Púchov .
Neighboring communities are Dolná Breznica in the north, Lednické Rovne in the north-east, Ladce in the east and south-east, Dulov in the south and west and Kvašov in the north-west.
history
Horovce was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1259 as a gown , further historical names are lower others Gowor and Goor (1262), Horowcz (1450), Horowecz (1460) and Horowce (1773). The village was owned by the Horovecký , Dulovský , Nozdrovický and Madocsányi families and after 1515 it was temporarily under the dominion of Lednica Castle . In 1598 there were 31 houses in Horovce, in 1720 the village had 23 taxpayers, 22 of them Söllner. In 1828 there were 38 houses and 411 inhabitants who were employed as farmers. In the 19th century there was a distillery in town.
Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 829 inhabitants in Horovce, including 823 Slovaks and one Czech . Five residents gave no information about their ethnicity .
791 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, two residents each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Evangelical Methodist Church. 16 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 18 residents was not determined.

traffic
The 2nd order road 507 runs through Horovce on the section between Nemšová and Púchov. The connection to the D1 motorway is seven kilometers away.
There is a stop on the Nemšová – Lednické Rovne railway line , but there is no longer any passenger traffic.
