Nimnica (Hungarian Nemőc - until 1902 Nimnic ) is a municipality and a health resort in northwestern Slovakia . It is located at the foot of the Javorníky Mountains on the Waag , near the Nosice reservoir (also called Priehrada mládeže ), 5 km from Púchov and 13 km from Považská Bystrica .
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1408 as Nywnycze .
A rich mineral spring was discovered in 1953 when the Priehrada mládeže reservoir was built. In 1959 a bath with this source was opened. Between 1979 and 1990 Nimnica was part of the city of Púchov .
