However, on his NBA debut against the Denver Nuggets , he came off the bench with 10 points and 4 assists. On December 2, 2017, Mitchell set a career record with 41 points against the New Orleans Pelicans . Mitchell was the first rookie after Blake Griffin in 2011, who managed a +40 point game. However, in January he had several good games and was first named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week . A few weeks later, on March 2, 2019, Mitchell set a new career record of 46 points in the 115-111 victory of Jazz over the Milwaukee Bucks , 17 points in the last quarter. Only Michael Jordan (with two extensions in 1986) and Elgin Baylor (1961) ever achieved more. Just days later in the fourth game, Mitchell scored 51 points, leading the Jazz to a 129-127 win over the Nuggets.
