biography

The daughter of a director studied acting at the Budapest Theater and Film Academy from 1994 to 1998. In 1998 Dorka Gryllus was engaged at the theater in Kaposvár. There she was seen in classical pieces by Carlo Goldoni ( Sommerfrische , 2003), Molière ( Don Juan , 2000) or Alexander Ostrowski ( Der Wald , 2002) as well as in leading musical roles such as My Fair Lady or Cabaret (both 2002) . In 2010 Gryllus played Helga in Leonyid Zorin's Warsaw Melody at the Budapest Pinceszínház Theater.

In parallel to her theater work, she worked in various Hungarian film and television productions from the mid-1990s. After the supporting role of Miss Mendel in Rolf Schübel's award-winning feature film A Song of Love and Death - Gloomy Sunday (1999), she began to shift the focus of her work to German-language film due to a lack of offers in Hungary. The part brought her acting awards at the Russian "Faces of Love" film festival in Sochi , the Festrola film festival in Setúbal, Portugal, and the Hungarian Film Week . In the same year, the Hungarian was honored as a " Shooting Star " at the 55th Berlin Film Festival together with talented actors such as the French Sara Forestier or the German Max Riemelt .

Further appearances in German-language films ( The Bone Man and Soul Kitchen , both 2009) and international cinema (Days of Darkness - Day of Wrath , 2006; Irina Palm , 2007) followed. In 2010 Gryllus worked again with Robert Adrian Pejo for the thriller The Cameraman , which is based on the detective novel of the same name by Thomas Glavinic . In 2011, the role of the doubting Sonja earned her a nomination as best actress for the first ever Austrian Film Prize . In the same year she demonstrated publicly in front of the Budapest parliament against the controversial new Hungarian media law . In 2011 she played the impulsive Volga-German singer Norah in the television film Schicksalsjahre at the side of Maria Furtwängler . In 2015 she played the role of easy-going, cheerful Anabell in the movie Die Kleine und die Böse at the side of Christoph Maria Herbst and Peter Kurth .
