Dubna ( Russian Дубна ) is an urban-type settlement with 5980 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010) in Tula Oblast in Russia . It is located 49 kilometers west of the Tula Oblast Administrative Center . Dubna is the administrative seat of the Rajons of the same name .
The place was founded in 1740 near an iron foundry built in 1729. In 1929 it received urban-type settlement status and became the administrative center of a Rajons.
