Pervomaiski ( Russian Первома́йский ) is an urban-type settlement in the Tula Oblast ( Russia ) with 10,058 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The settlement is located about 20 km as the crow flies south-southwest of the Tula Oblast Administrative Center .
Pervomaiski belongs to the Shchokino Raion and is located about 3 km north of its administrative center Shchokino . The settlement actually borders directly on the "Mikrorajon" ( prefabricated building area ) Stanzionny of the city of Shchokino. Pervomaiski is the seat and only village of a municipality of the same name.
history
The place was founded in 1946 in connection with the construction of a plant for the gasification of the lignite mined in the area . Accordingly, it was initially unofficially called Gasowy (possjolok) - "gas settlement". On April 1, 1950, it received the status of an urban-type settlement under its current name, derived from Perwoje maja for May Day .
In 1953 a thermal power station went into operation, later a chemical factory was built, among other things for the production of synthetic fibers.

Economy and Infrastructure
The most important companies are located in an area a good two kilometers east of the settlement: the local chemical plant Shchokinoasot (Shchekinoazot) and the Pervomaiskaya TEZ thermal power station with an output of 125 MW . There are also construction and utility companies.
The place is located between the M2 Moscow - Belgorod - Ukrainian border in the direction of Kharkiv (also European route 95 ) and the regional road R148 Tula - Shchokino - Odojew . There is a city bus connection with Shchokino, where the nearest train station on the Moscow - Kharkiv route is located.
