The 1990/91 season was the third regular season of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The eleven teams played 64 games each in the regular season . The best points team of the regular season were the Knoxville Cherokees , while the Hampton Roads Admirals won the Riley Cup for the first time in the play-offs .
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- As part of a league expansion, the Cincinnati Cyclones were added.
- As part of a league expansion, the Louisville Icehawks were added.
- In the course of a league expansion, the Richmond Renegades were added.
- The Virginia Lancers changed their name to Roanoke Valley Rebels.
