EHF Challenge Cup 2007/08

At the EHF Challenge Cup 2007/08 38 took Handball part -Vereinsmannschaften, who had qualified in the previous season in their home countries for the competition. It was the 8th edition of the Challenge Cup. The cup games began on September 28, 2007, the second final took place on May 11, 2008. In the final, the defending champion UCM Sport Reșița from Romania prevailed against the Austrian representative HC Hard .

mode

The competition started in round 2 with 3 groups with 4 teams in which everyone played against everyone in a simple round . The first two of the group moved into round 3, in which other, higher-ranking teams entered. From this round, including the final, the game was played in a knockout system with a return leg. The winner of the final was the EHF Challenge Cup winner of the 2007/08 season.

All group matches took place from September 28, 2007 to September 30, 2007. Group A played in Minsk , Belarus , Group B in Sabac , Serbia and Group C in Thessaloniki , Greece .

final

The first leg took place on May 4, 2008 in Hard and the second leg on May 11, 2008 in Reșița . HC Hard was the second team from Austria to make it into a European Cup final. The Vorarlberg trainer , Gerald Gabl, was in the EHF Cup 1993/94 as a player for HC Linz AG when an Austrian team entered the finals for the first time. After a narrow first leg, UCM Sport Reșița was able to defend its title with a clear win in the second leg.
