Regional Policy Commissioner

The Regional Policy Commissioner is a member of the European Commission . He is responsible for the regional policy of the European Union .

For the first time, there was a commissioner in 1967 who was responsible for regional policy, but not as a separate department. At that time, Hans von der Groeben was Commissioner for Internal Market , Trade , Taxes and Regional Policy. Since the Ortoli Commission took office in 1973, regional policy has been an independent department. From 1985 to 1999 it was called Regional Policy and Cohesion .

The current incumbent in the Von der Leyen Commission is Elisa Ferreira .
