Eduard Otto Spangenberg

Eduard Otto Spangenberg (born May 24, 1813 in Blankensee , Randow district , † August 14, 1886 in Trier ) was a German administrative officer, member of parliament and district administrator .

Eduard Spangenberg was a son of the pastor Ludwig Spangenberg and Philippine Seil from Blankensee in Pomerania .

Life

Spangenberg first attended the Marienstiftsgymnasium in Stettin and then studied law and camera studies in Berlin from 1833 to 1836 . On October 24, 1836, he took his first judicial training as an auscultator at the Higher Regional Court in Stettin. In December 1838 he became a court trainee and in February 1839 a government trainee, before he became administrator of the magistrate's office in Greifenberg in July 1839 . In December 1840 he worked again as a government trainee in Stettin until he became a government assessor there in February 1845 and from May 1845 also held the same function in Trier. From April 1, 1847, he worked as a substitute in the administration of the Saarburg district office , which had been in the Warsberg house since the same year .

On December 17, 1847, he returned to the Marienwerder government as a government assessor , before doing the same job again in Trier. From June 1848 he worked as a substitute in the administration of the St. Wendel District Office and in September 1848 he was appointed acting District Administrator in the Trier district, which was converted into a final appointment on October 4, 1850 . From November 1, 1851, he also took on the provisional administration of the city of Trier. After 37 years as a district administrator in the Trier district, he was given leave of absence on July 1, 1885. He received his certificate of discharge ( Dimissoriale ) from service with effect from January 1, 1886 on December 2, 1885.

From 1855 to 1856 and from 1867 to 1873 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives , where he a. a. belonged to the Büchtemann faction of the Free Conservative Party .

Supplementary biography

On the occasion of a visit to Trier by the King of Prussia Friedrich Wilhelm IV. In 1852, Spangenberg issued a circular order to prepare the mayor of the Trier district for the upcoming event.

As part of the Kulturkampf , Spangenberg had Trier bishop Matthias Eberhard arrested on March 6, 1874, who was only the second Prussian bishop until then, who was subsequently sentenced to a fine of 130,000 gold marks and nine months in prison.
