Edward Lopez "Ed" Pastor (born June 28, 1943 in Claypool , Arizona , † November 28, 2018 in Phoenix , Arizona) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . As a member of the US House of Representatives , he represented various congressional electoral districts in the state of Arizona from 1991 to 2015 .

After studying chemistry at Arizona State University , Pastor earned a doctorate in law there in 1974 ( Juris Doctor ).

Pastor was elected to Congress as a Democrat in order to fill the seat in the US House of Representatives, which had become vacant due to the resignation of Mo Udall . He was subsequently re-elected until he decided not to be re-elected in 2014. His successor also became a Democrat with Ruben Gallego .

Pastor was married and had two daughters.
