history

Voitesrewt was first mentioned in a document in 1299 and at that time it was the largest village in the Egerer Land. In 1455 the owner of the Seeberg estate , Anna Schlick , acquired the village from the Voitersreuter family from Eger. In 1660 Anna von Schönaich bought part of Voitersreut for her rule in Haslau . Parts of the village belonged to the Order of the Poor Clares and the Teutonic Order in Eger.

The village, which never had its own church, was originally parish to Schönberg and came to the parish in Unterlohma ( Dolní Lomany ) in 1653 in the course of re-Catholicization . In 1684, seven courtyards burned down in a fire.

Voitersreuth was given an upswing by the construction of the Chaussee from Franzensbad to Brambach in 1829 and the construction of the Voigtland State Railway from Herlasgrün to Eger in 1865. This resulted in industry, with the textile factories of Listner & Buchheim and Hüttner being the most important companies. From the middle of the 19th century Voitersreuth belonged to the judicial district Wildstein and district Eger . By 1937 the population had increased to 647.

After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and belonged to the district of Eger until 1945 .

After the Second World War, the German-Bohemian population was expelled .

The place lives mainly from the border crossing and shopping tourism. In Vojtanov u. a. three gas stations, two barber shops, two as nightclubs called brothels and three run by Asian traders markets. Customs clearance was discontinued in May 2004 after joining the EU.
