Ernst Lechner (born January 23, 1925 in Nordstetten near Gunzenhausen ; † December 30, 2013 in Gunzenhausen) was a German local politician of the CSU . He is referred to as the father of the Franconian Lake District.

Life

Ernst Lechner was born on January 23, 1925 in Nordstetten. His father was the town's mayor for many years. From 1943 to 1945 Ernst Lechner did his military service in the Reichsmarine . Lechner initially studied agriculture in Triesdorf and after completing his teaching degree at agricultural vocational schools, he worked as a teacher at the Gunzenhausen vocational school and at the elementary school in Frickenfelden from 1953 to 1962 .

In 1962 he moved into the Bavarian State Parliament as a member of the CSU , where he accompanied the policy of State Minister Hans Eisenmann from 1970 to 1978 as chairman of the Agriculture Committee . Also from 1970 to 1978 Lechner was deputy parliamentary group chairman and a member of the council of elders . From December 15, 1966 to 1970 he was a member of the Media Council . In 1978 he was elected Vice President of the State Parliament. He held this office until 1986. Lechner was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for 24 years and therefore six legislative periods.

Ernst Lechner had the vision of upgrading the West Central Franconian poor house by transferring Altmühl and Danube waters to the Regnitz - Main area . On July 16, 1970, the Bavarian State Parliament finally followed this vision and Lechner's proposal and tackled the Franconian Lake District project. But he also campaigned for the preservation of the university in Triesdorf and the hospital in Treuchtlingen as well as the construction of the Roman Museum in Weißenburg and the construction of the Hahnenkammsee .

In his political life, Lechner was a city ​​councilor in Gunzenhausen for 30 years , from 1954 to 1956 municipal councilor of Nordstetten and 36 years district councilor of the Gunzenhausen district and, after the regional reform of the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district . 1996 Lechner withdrew from local politics.

Lechner died on December 30, 2013 after a long illness at the age of 88. Lechner leaves behind his wife Anneliese as well as four children and five grandchildren.
