Birnerová, who prefers grass courts, began playing tennis at the age of four under the guidance of her father, Stanislav Birner , who was also a professional tennis player. In 1998 she took part in ITF tournaments, and in 2002 she made her debut on the WTA Tour . In 2002 and 2003 she played a double game for the Czech Fed Cup team , which she lost both.
Birnerová won her first WTA title on August 13, 2006 in Stockholm , where she defeated the pairing Zi Yan / Jie Zheng in three sets in the final alongside Jarmila Gajdošová . She won her second tournament victory in July 2011 in Bad Gastein , where she and Lucie Hradecká defeated Jarmila Gajdošová and Julia Görges in a close match of three in the final . She won her third title in February 2012 in Bogotá on the side of Alexandra Panowa . On May 21, 2012 she achieved her best position in the world rankings in doubles with place 52 .
In singles, she moved into the 2011 WTA tournament in Tashkent in the final, which she lost to Xenija Pervak with 3: 6 and 1: 6. At the Australian Open and the French Open , where she reached the round of 16 in 2005, she was eliminated in the first round in 2012; in Wimbledon and at the US Open she failed each in the qualification. In 2013 she drew attention again at Wimbledon , where she was eliminated in three sets against Mónica Puig in the third round .
She played her last match in August 2014 at an ITF tournament in Hechingen , where she gave up at the beginning of the second set after losing the first set.
