The fall mill was a watermill located at the tributary of the Kervenheimer Mühlenfleuth in the municipality of Sonsbeck with an overshot water wheel .
geography
The fall mill was located at the tributary of the Kervenheimer Mühlenfleuth, at Reichswaldstrasse 10, in the Balbeck district, in the municipality of Sonsbeck, Wesel district , in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The tributary to the Kervenheimer Mühlenfleuth absorbs surface water from the Balberg Forest and has a height of approx. 26 m above sea level . The care and maintenance of the water is the responsibility of the Niersverband , which is based in Viersen .
history
The exact year of construction of the drop mill is not known and it is assumed that it was built in the 18th century. The mill was driven by an overshot water wheel, depending on the location of the site. It was underperforming and so a windmill was built in the neighborhood in 1836 . In 1851 the water mill was named as a fruit grinder. The owner was Heinrich Eicks. A long-term lease between the two millers Anton Carls , baker and innkeeper , and Mathias Hertjes , Ackerer , for their water mill was dissolved in 1865 and the mill closed.
