Fyodor Mikhailovich Smolov ( Russian Фёдор Михайлович Смолов ; FIFA spelling based on English transcription Fyodor Mikhailovich Smolov ; born February 9, 1990 in Saratov , Russian SFSR , USSR ) is a Russian football player .

Career

The striker played for FK Dynamo Moscow from 2007 to 2015 , but was awarded several times during this time. In 2015 he was signed by league rivals FK Krasnodar . After three years there and 53 goals in 75 games, Lokomotiv Moscow signed him , where he made nine goals in 36 games up to his loan to Celta Vigo . He found his way into Vigo and was often in the starting XI.

National team

Smolow made his debut for the Russian national team on November 14, 2012 against the USA , which ended with a 2-2 draw. He scored his first goal.

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was nominated for the “final” squad of the Russian national team . He was in the starting line-up in all three group games. After that, the team was eliminated from the three games with just one point.

In 2018 he is part of the Russian team at the 2018 World Cup in his own country. He reached the quarter-finals with his team, but was eliminated on penalties against Croatia after missing his team's first penalty.
