Ferdinand Wilhelm Freiherr von Bock (born May 31, 1819 in Cosel , † September 29, 1884 in Neisse ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Ferdinand was a son of the Prussian lieutenant colonel Friedrich von Bock (1787-1851) and his wife Ferdinandine Löwenberger, née von Schönholz (1785-1819).

Career

Bock visited the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin . Subsequently, on August 18, 1836, he was transferred to the 22nd Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as portepeef ensign and was promoted to secondary lieutenant until the end of September 1838 . In April 1844 he was assigned to the 6th Pioneer Department for one year. During the Polish uprising in 1846 he took part in the occupation of Krakow . From February 15 to May 1, 1848 he was in command of the 6th Jäger Battalion . During the uprising of 1848 in Poznan Bock took part in the battle near Reczkow and was transferred to the 6th Jäger Battalion on November 21, 1848. During the suppression of the revolution , he took part in the street fighting in Breslau on May 7, 1849 .

He was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on June 22, 1852 and rose to captain on January 18, 1853 when he was transferred to the 2nd Jäger Battalion . There he was appointed company commander on April 1, 1855 . On July 1, 1860, he was transferred to the 6th Pomeranian Infantry Regiment No. 49 . This was followed on March 17, 1863, while being promoted to major, he was appointed commander of the fusilier battalion in the 2nd Pomeranian Grenadier Regiment (Colberg) No. 9 in Pyritz . From August 7, 1863 to December 5, 1864, his battalion was commanded to the Russian-Polish border. On April 18, 1865, Bock was transferred to the 4th Upper Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 63 as commander of the 1st Battalion . As such he took part in the German War and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on December 31, 1866 with a patent from October 30, 1866. Under promotion to Colonel Bock was appointed commander of the 18 June 1869 1. Posen Infantry Regiment. 18 appointed that he 1870/71 during the war against France before Pfalzburg and Paris as well as in Chevilly , Choisy-le-Roi , Thiais , Villejuif and Mont Mesl.

Awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class, Bock was appointed commander of the 7th Infantry Brigade on May 23, 1873 , and promoted to major general on September 2, 1873, after the peace treaty was held à la suite in his regiment . In this capacity he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves, on the occasion of the festival in January 1877 . On 12 March 1878 he was awarded the character as a lieutenant general with board for disposition made. He died on September 29, 1884 in Neisse.

family

Bock married on November 11, 1846 in Polish-Wartenberg Lyda von Teichmann and Logischen (1826-1847), a daughter of the Rittmeister Sylvius Wilhelm von Teichmann. After her untimely death, he married Marie von Wallhoffen (1830–1917) on July 21, 1850 in Wachow ( Rosenberg district ). The following children emerged from the marriages:
