Ferdinand Ernst Wilhelm Karl Freiherr von Dörnberg (born July 10, 1833 in Siegen , † August 15, 1902 in Kassel ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Ferdinand was the son of Oberforstmeister Karl von Dörnberg (1796–1873) and his wife Emma, ​​née von Rohr (1802–1877). His brother Hermann (1828-1893) also rose to lieutenant general.

Military career

Dörnberg attended high school in Arnsberg and joined the Guard Reserve Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on November 5, 1852 . With his promotion to second lieutenant on March 7, 1854, he was transferred to the 9th Hussar Regiment in Trier and from mid-August 1857 was used as a regimental adjutant. This was followed by a command as adjutant to the 15th Cavalry Brigade in Cologne from July 1860 to the end of June 1864 and the meanwhile promotion to Prime Lieutenant .
