The Hagen fire brigade is responsible for non-police security in the urban area of the city of Hagen and consists of the professional fire brigade , the voluntary fire brigade , youth fire brigade and the support department. The Hagen fire brigade not only provides fire fighting and general help, especially in emergencies, but is also responsible for the rescue service of the city of Hagen.
Professional fire brigade
The fire protection department is housed in two locations.
Fire and rescue station in the middle (1)
The city fire station, built in 1913, is no longer suitable for the demands of the 21st century. After drawing up the new fire protection requirement plan, which is expected for the end of 2020, a decision must be made about a new building at this or a cheaper location. No new watch is expected before 2025.
At the moment there is a fire fighting train (HLF20 (B-Dienst Mitte), DLK23, HLF10 (A-Dienst)), the ELW1 (C-Dienst), four ambulances , an ambulance and the water rescue equipment car .
Preventive fire protection from Office 37 for Fire and Disaster Protection is also housed here.
Fire and Rescue Station East (2)
The more modern fire station east is located in Hohenlimburg at Florianstraße 2. The control center of the city of Hagen is also located here.
A fire fighting train (HLF20 (B-Dienst Ost), DLK23, TLF4000), two ambulances and an emergency doctor's vehicle are stationed here. Furthermore, there are various special vehicles for fire and rescue services as well as reserve vehicles at FRW 2.
Ambulance service
RTWs are stationed at several locations in the city , namely in the fire station in the middle, in the fire station in the east, in the fire station HaTüWe (ambulance station 4), in the fire station vestibule (emergency station 3), in the fire station in Dahl and at the Haspe Evangelical Hospital. The rescue service also maintains locations for emergency medical vehicles at the General Hospital, at the Johanneshospital and at the East Fire Station.

Delete groups
The volunteer fire brigade is divided into 22 fire fighting groups. Almost every fire fighting group has a special skill. The deletion groups are divided into five sections, these can be seen from the first digit of the deletion group number.

Locations
After the new concept for fire protection and rescue services adopted by the city council in 1988 , many fire stations have been built in recent years or are still under construction and planning. The 22 extinguishing groups are to be combined at ten locations. Despite the greater distance to the places of residence, it is hoped that the grouping of different fire fighting groups at one location will result in faster deployment of full vehicles, as they can be occupied by different fire fighting groups. The locations are selected on the condition that the deployment sites can be reached by the volunteer fire brigade units within a maximum of 9.5 minutes after receipt of the report .
Most of the newly erected buildings have been given a uniform appearance. Social , recreation and training rooms are housed above the vehicle hall, over which a characteristic barrel roof arches. In some old fire stations, the firefighters had to change next to the vehicles. Women could not be admitted because there were no separate changing facilities. Likewise, in some of the old vehicle hangars there were no exhaust extraction systems.
- The first thing that was inaugurated in 2008 was the Haspe fire station (11 spaces for the fire brigade, a guard area for the rescue service and two spaces for the youth fire brigade west).
- Since March 2010 the fire fighting group is located in the new fire station on Revelstrasse
- In 2011, the Dahl fire fighting group moved to a new fire station with a standardized design.
- The Altenhagen-Boelerheide-Eckesey fire station followed in November 2012. The emergency pastoral care is also housed here.
- The new fire station in Haßley was opened in August 2015. The fire fighting groups Eilpe-Delstern, Eppenhausen and Holthausen find a new home here. If necessary, the personal information center will also be set up here to provide information to relatives in the event of a disaster.
- The penultimate one is the Garenfeld / Berchum fire station with six parking spaces on Verbandsstraße, which was occupied in October 2017.
- The last one is to be built in 2018 for the fire fighting groups Fley, Halden and Herbeck, but there is still resistance from residents. The planned laying of the foundation stone had to be canceled on site.
- The fire fighting groups Elsey and Reh are housed at the east station of the professional fire brigade .
- LG Boele-Kabel (four parking spaces) remains in an independent fire station. In 2010 she moved into the former gymnasium of the gymnastics club, which had been largely converted by itself, from which the fire fighting group emerged in 1897.
- The Hohenlimburg-Mitte, Nahmer and Oege fire fighting groups have been in the fire station at Gasstrasse 2-4 together since 1971.
Youth fire brigade
In each of the four directions there is a separate youth fire brigade group. They are located at the fire stations HaTüWe (west), Gasstrasse (east), Boele-Kabel (north) and Haßley (south). There is space for 20 young people in all groups, but since the interest is much greater, waiting lists must be kept.
Support department
At the beginning of 2018, the Hagen fire brigade founded a support unit. They should relieve the active in the operations department. The fire brigade wants to find 50 members within one year who can take care of recruiting, documentation, the information center and the like.
Plant fire brigades
Thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg GmbH and Kabel Premium Pulp & Paper GmbH each have their own plant fire departments . The company Bilstein GmbH maintains a works fire brigade .
