The flag of Uganda is based on the black, yellow and red colors of the Uganda People's Congress , founded in 1960 , which emerged from the 1962 elections as the strongest party. The design comes from Justice Minister Grace Ibingira , where the colors mean the following:
- Black stands for the people in Africa
- Yellow symbolizes the sunshine,
- Red expresses the brotherhood of all people.
The Crowned Crane was chosen as a neutral state emblem because none of the earlier kingdoms and tribes used it in this way before. The flag was officially hoisted on October 9, 1962.
