Description and meaning

The national flag follows a design by the Central African politician Barthélemy Boganda , an advocate of African unity, which is reflected in the symbolism of the national flag. It should express the equality of all people. White, red and blue stand for the flag of France , the old colonial power. These are united with the Pan-African colors green, yellow and red. The vertical red stripe also symbolizes the common bond, the red blood of humanity. There is another interpretation for the colors green and yellow. After that, green stands for the people of the forest region, yellow for the inhabitants of the savannah area . The golden five-pointed star symbolizes independence and is a guide for future progress.

There are various details about the exact proportions of the flag, they vary from 3: 5 to 2: 3 to not precisely specified.
