Florian Danner (born June 3, 1983 in Linz ) is an Austrian radio and television presenter .

Life and work

Danner grew up in Zwettl an der Rodl in Upper Austria as the son of a musical instrument maker and an accountant, and then graduated from the music branch of the Adalbert-Stifter-Gymnasium in Linz .

In 1999 he started as an intern alongside his school education at Life Radio , where he got his first broadcast in 2001 and between 2004 and 2008 he moderated the daily personality talk show LifeTalk with prominent people.

He also completed his master's degree in International Relations at the University of Leicester in Great Britain, the Upper Austrian Journalist Academy in Linz, the ARD.ZDF medienakademie in Mainz and the RTL Journalist School in Cologne and did internships at Upper Austria, among others . PULSE 4

After working on the radio, in 2008 he moved to the TV family of ProSieben Austria , Sat.1 Austria and Puls 4 in Vienna, where he initially wrote the half-hourly news in Café Puls and the evening AustriaNews of the three stations as well as the daily Puls 4 discussion program Talk of Town and the weekly follow-up format Pro & Contra moderated alternately with Corinna Milborn .

From summer 2012, Danner succeeded Norbert Oberhauser and presented the Café Puls breakfast television together with Johanna Setzer and Bianca Schwarzjirg . Since 2014 he and Bianca Schwarzjirg have been the main presenter couple for three weeks a month, together they also lead the show's strategic creative team.

CNN & NBC

In the 2016 US presidential election campaign , Danner worked for four months at the US TV broadcaster NBC in New York , Washington DC and San Francisco and reported on Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton's campaigns from 15 different US states. In 2012 he reported on the re-election of Barack Obama from Washington DC for Puls 4 , and in 2004 for Life Radio on the re-election of George W. Bush from Florida. In the fall of 2008, Danner worked for several months in the USA for the American news channel CNN in Atlanta , Denver and Washington DC, and was also regularly seen as a correspondent for Austria on the CNN program World View .

Further missions

Danner reports time and again about current news results on site - in addition to the USA, among others, from Afghanistan, Egypt, Qatar, Morocco, South Africa, Turkey and within the EU from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Greece, Great Britain, Italy, Croatia, Malta, the Netherlands, Sweden, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Cyprus. For example, he was on duty for the 2015 wave of refugees from the Turkish-Greek border from the Aegean region around Lesbos and from the Hungarian-Austrian border region, on the tenth anniversary of the Afghanistan war as a war reporter from Kabul, on the American presidential elections in 2016, 2012, 2008 and 2004 from the USA, from the conclave and the election of Pope Francis in 2013 from Rome, to the unrest during the financial crisis in Greece in 2012, 2013, 2014 and the political upheavals in 2015 from Athens, to the funeral of Nelson Mandela in 2013 from South Africa, to the gubernatorial election by Arnold Schwarzenegger from California in 2006, to the rescue of Malala Yousafzai from Birmingham, from the royal wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William in 2011 and the birth of their son George in 2013 from London, from the 2006 World Cup in Germany, from the Hahnenkamm ski races World Cup 2003 to 2008 from Kitzbühel, from the flood of the century in 2013 in Upper and Lower Austria eich from Melk, Theiß, Goldwörth and Linz, from the rampage in Annaberg or from the trial of the Amstetten incest from St. Pölten.

In addition, Danner wandered under the title "Café Pulse wandering" in the four weeks before the national elections in 2017 to walk 1012 km from the westernmost to the easternmost town in Austria (of Meiningen in Vorarlberg to German-year village in Burgenland) to voters from all provinces outside the capital to portray.

Movie

In December 2017 Danner took on the role of voice actor in the German translation of the animated film " Ferdinand " alongside Mirjam Weichselbraun and Simon Schwarz as one of the three Lipizzaner horses.

Awards

For his TV documentary "Nine Kilometers to Europe", in which Danner accompanied refugees, helpers, tourists and locals on the most affected Greek island of Lesbos at the height of the refugee movement in 2015 , he was awarded the title of Dr. Karl Renner Prize and the TV Prize of the Adult Education Centers nominated.

In 2013 Danner was chosen for his reports from crisis-ridden Greece and the rise of right-wing extremist "Golden Dawn" for Dr. Karl Renner Prize, nominated for the Prälat-Leopold-Ungar-Journalist-Prize of Caritas Austria and the TV Prize of the Adult Education Centers.

In 2010 and 2011 he was voted the second most popular news presenter in Austria by the readers of the media magazine Extradienst.

Private

Danner has been married to his wife Christina since May 2011. Since March 2012 the two have a son named Theo. A few days after the birth, the newborn accidentally received a draft order for the armed forces due to a data error , which caused much media coverage. In December 2015, the couple had a second son named Noah.

Danner lives with his family in the Vienna Woods in Lower Austria and in the Mühlviertel in Upper Austria.
