The Sivas-Nuri Demirağ airport ( Turkish Sivas Nuri Demirağ Havalimanı ) is a Turkish airport near the city of Sivas . The airport is named after the most important Turkish businessman Mühürzâde Mehmed Nuri Bey , who implemented numerous important projects in the young Republic of Turkey around 1923, including the first aircraft factory. It is operated by the state DHMI .

history

The airport went into operation in 1957 and is still in operation after numerous renovations and extensions. While the main focus was initially on military aviation, the airport is now used for civil and, albeit declining, military use. Today the airport is used almost exclusively for domestic Turkish flights in civil air traffic. After three years of construction, the new airport terminal was inaugurated in 2010. This made flights abroad possible, as the airport did not previously have international standards.

The airport has a terminal with a capacity of 620,000 passengers a year, a paved runway with an instrument flight landing system (ILS) and a control tower. The central apron has a size of 44 × 150 meters.

The city of Sivas assigned to him is about 22 to 23 kilometers away. It can be reached by taxi, private car or airport bus. There is parking for 33 cars in front of the terminal.
