Formula One 2001 , engl. Original title Formula One 2001 , is a racing game from Studio 33 (PSX) and Sony Studio Liverpool (PS2) based on the 2001 Formula 1 season . It is the sixth title in Sony's Formula 1 racing game series . The game was released for PlayStation 2 on April 20, 2001 in Europe, September 24 in America and October 11 in Japan. The PlayStation version was released worldwide on May 24, 2001.

The developers worked with the Formula 1 racing teams Benetton , Jaguar , Jordan and Arrows . The game was the first game to support the Logitech racing wheel. Formula One 2001 was the last racing game that appeared for the first PlayStation console. It was also the last Formula 1 racing game to be released in North America for the time being. Only after four years was a Formula 1 game published again in America in 2005 with Formula 1 .

Limited edition

Formula One 2001 received mostly positive feedback. Computer Bild Spiele judged "This game is aimed at all true fans of the premier class of motorsport" and awarded a grade of 1.62 (88%). Play the PlayStation said "No early start, but also no pole position" and gave the game 76%.
