Frank Dahrendorf
Frank Herbert Dahrendorf (* 26. May 1934 in Berlin , † 4. June 2013 ) was a German lawyer and SPD - politician .
Life
The son of the former SPD Reichstag MP Gustav Dahrendorf and brother of Ralf Dahrendorf studied law in Hamburg , Munich and Frankfurt am Main from 1953 . During his studies Dahrendorf was a member of the Socialist German Student Union (SDS), AStA chairman in Hamburg and in 1956/57 served as 2nd chairman of the Association of German Student Unions (VDS).
After the first (January 13, 1959) and second (February 7, 1963) state law exams , Dahrendorf settled as a lawyer in Hamburg. From 1970 to 1978 he was State Councilor ( State Secretary ) in Hamburg, first in the interior and later in the school authority. Appointed Justice Senator in Hamburg in 1978, he had to resign on September 26, 1979 due to the Stoltzenberg scandal .
In January 1981 Dahrendorf was appointed Senator for the Interior by Berlin's new Governing Mayor Hans-Jochen Vogel . He resigned from this office when the social-liberal coalition lost its majority in the election for the Berlin House of Representatives on May 10, 1981 , and a new Senate under Richard von Weizsäcker (CDU) was elected on June 11, 1981 ; at the same time Dahrendorf renounced the recently acquired mandate in the House of Representatives .
Dahrendorf then worked again as a lawyer in Hamburg. At that time, his functions within the SPD included chairing the local association Barmbek - Uhlenhorst - Hohenfelde in the SPD district of Hamburg-Nord . In 1982 he was elected as a member of the Hamburg parliament. There he worked mainly in the committees for the constitution, rules of procedure and election examinations , port and economy and property and public companies .
In 1991 he became a member of the board of the Association of Consumer Cooperatives in Berlin (until 1994). From 1992 to 2009 he was also deputy chairman of the media council of Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg (mabb).
Frank Dahrendorf was buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery in Hamburg, grid square Y 12 (south of Norderstrasse ).
