Frankenberg is a village with 46 inhabitants and a district of Weismain in the Upper Franconian district of Lichtenfels , in the north of the Free State of Bavaria .

Geographical location

Frankenberg is located at 471  m above sea level. NN on a plateau northeast of the Kleinziegenfelder valley , which belongs to the northern foothills of the Franconian Jura in the Franconian Switzerland - Franconian Jura Nature Park . The village is located between the Hainsgrund in the south and the Schöpfleinsgraben in the north. The next localities are Erlach , Schammendorf , Mosenberg and Kaspauer . The city center of Weismain is located around 3.2 kilometers northeast.

history

The first documentary mention was in 1322, when Gundeloh, Marshal von Dietersdorf, sold the tithe to the Bamberg Katharinenhospital.

In 1975 the road from Mosenberg to Wallersberg was expanded.

Frankenberg was incorporated into Weismain on January 1, 1976 as a district of the Wallersberg community together with Schammendorf , Waßmannsmühle , Weihersmühle and Mosenberg .

The small Catholic chapel on the northern edge of the village was built in 1977 as a square, plastered building with a slate roof. The consecration to the patronage of St. Faustinus and Jovita took place in the following year .

In spring 2012, the local connection road from Frankenberg to Schammendorf, the "Frangabärche Berg", was renewed and expanded. This measure was made possible by the financial support of the Upper Franconian district government. The section was officially inaugurated on July 20, 2012.
