history

The Chapel for the Finding of the Cross in May 2011

The first documentary mention was in 1250, when the Langheim monastery acquired the tithe for "Sidandorf".

At the beginning of the 19th century the still existing chapel for the discovery of the cross was built.

From 1810 Siedamsdorf belonged together with the districts Altendorf , Bernreuth and Giechkröttendorf to the newly formed municipality of Kaspauer . As a result of the formation of communities in Bavaria after the Second Constitution of the Kingdom of Bavaria was passed, this community was restructured and from 1818 consisted only of Altendorf, Siedamsdorf and the main town of Kaspauer. In the First World War there was one dead, in the Second four killed and three missing. On July 1, 1976, the municipality of Kaspauer and its associated places were incorporated into Weismain.

In April 1998, Siedamsdorf, together with Altendorf and Kaspauer as a village community, received the Sparkassen-Förderpreis for outstanding achievements in nature and environmental protection.

A special feature of the village is that almost every old house (numbers 1–10) has its own quarry (approx. Six in total), some of which have been heavily filled, so that the original function is only recognizable in three. The house with the number 10 in the center of the village is the former community house or poor house. Up until the 1970s, house number 11 was located below the toadstone, which was then torn down. The place once had two taverns, the Gastwirtschaft Dauer (No. 5, towards Kaspauer; closed on January 1, 1980) and the Murmann Beer Pub (No. 9, towards Altendorf; the last owner died in 1985).
