Franz Arnold (Canonist)

Franz Arnold (born February 6, 1893 in Vienna ; † May 12, 1963 there ) was an Austrian canon lawyer. He was ordained a priest in 1916 and, after receiving his doctorate in theology (1928) and law (1930), he was a private lecturer in Catholic Church Law in Vienna in 1935 .

Life

Since 1925 Arnold was a member of KaV Norica Wien in the ÖCV . In 1938 he was suspended from teaching. After the war, he worked from 1946 as an associate professor and from 1947 as a full professor of canon law at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna ; in 1961/62 he held the office of rector of the University of Vienna .

From 1953 to 1961 he was also an official of the diocesan and metropolitan court of the Archdiocese of Vienna .
