Africa Cup 2008 / qualification

The qualification for the Africa Cup 2008 took place between September 2006 and September 2007. 46 of 48 registered national teams of the African Football Association took part in the qualification phase. The teams were drawn from twelve groups, eleven of them with four and one with three teams. Hosts Ghana were seeded for the finals and Djibouti withdrew before qualifying began. Ultimately, in addition to the host, the twelve group winners and the three best-placed runners-up in the groups of four qualified.

The Central African Republic , the Comoros , Guinea-Bissau , Zanzibar , São Tomé and Príncipe , Somalia and Djibouti did not take part in the qualification .

Qualified teams

The following 16 teams qualified for the Africa Cup 2008 in Ghana.

•  Ghana as host
•  Ivory Coast as Group 1 winner.
•  Egypt as winner of group 2.
•  Nigeria won Group 3.
•  Sudan as the winner of group 4.
•  Cameroon as the winner of group 5.
•  Angola wins Group 6.
•  Senegal as the winner of group 7.
•  Guinea wins Group 8.
•  Mali as the winner of group 9.
•  Namibia as the winner of group 10.
•  Zambia as the winner of group 11.
•  Morocco wins Group 12.
•  Tunisia as one of the top three runners-up in the group.
•  Benin as one of the three best runners-up in the group.
•  South Africa as one of the three best runners-up in the group.
