Seat of the Gods (nature reserve)

The seat of the gods is a nature reserve in the city of Naumburg (Saale) and the municipality of Lanitz-Hassel-Tal in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0136 is approximately 142 hectares . It is congruent with the FFH area "north Bad Kosen seat of the gods and giving wood" and mostly from the conservation area surrounded "Saale". The area has been under protection since 1993 (date of regulation: March 12, 1993). The responsible authority is the Halle district government as the higher nature conservation authority.
The nature reserve is located directly north of Bad Kösen , a district of Naumburg (Saale), in the Saale-Unstrut-Triasland nature park . A shell limestone area rising northwest of the Saale with its characteristic rocky corridors, dry and semi-arid grasslands and natural deciduous forests is under protection. The Muschelkalk area slopes steeply towards the Saale . A bushy dry oak forest with sessile oak , field maple and service tree grows here . Cornelian cherry , red dogwood and common hazel grow in the shrub layer . In the herb layer settle various heat-loving species, including Knack Strawberry , Cowslip , Solomon's seal and Pale Waldvöglein . There are also snowball-dogwood bushes and bushy gentian-schillergrass semi-arid grasslands. Germander blue grass dry grass with brown-red sitter settles on limestone gravel heaps . Sporadic coxsbill and deer root hems can be found.
On the plateau and the sloping slopes in western directions there is a forest rennet, sessile oak and hornbeam forest with winter linden and red beech , the bar wood. The shrub layer is here u. a. formed by common hazel and hawthorn species . In the herb layer settle u. a. Forest rennet , spring pea , hollow larkspur , Turkish lily and spotted arum . In the area of the Schenkenholz there are also orchards with gentian-schillergrass meadows. The fringed gentian , autumn spiral orchid , large schiller grass , red ostrich grass , golden thistle , small beaver mole , bearded grass and bedstraw live here .
In the nature reserve numerous were birds be detected, including Dove , lesser spotted woodpecker , black woodpecker , wryneck , red-backed shrike , red kite , Whinchat and barred warbler . Various bats find habitat, including Barbastelle , greater mouse-eared , lesser horseshoe bat , Natterer's bat and Big and Little Bart bat .
Some areas of the steep slope and on the plateau are used for viticulture . The vineyards on the plateau are excluded from the scope of the nature conservation ordinance. Individual grassland areas can also be found on the plateau within the nature reserve . The forests in the nature reserve are to be preserved and developed through the continuation of coppice and medium forest management. Afforestation that is not appropriate to the location should be converted into near-natural forest stands.
The nature reserve largely borders on agricultural areas , and in the Saale valley also on the residential areas of Bad Kösen.
