Gō Tanaka ( Japanese 田中 豪 , Tanaka Gō ; born October 6, 1983 in Sapporo , Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Tohoku Free Blades in the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2010 .

Career

Gō Tanaka began his career as a hockey player with the Seibu Prince Rabbits , for whom he was active in the Asia League Ice Hockey from 2006 to 2009 . With the Rabbits he was runner-up in each of the 2006/07 and 2008/09 seasons, with his team losing to the Nippon Paper Cranes in the finals. After three years in the highest Asian professional league, he was obliged by the German second division promoted ESV Kaufbeuren , where he received a one-year contract for the 2nd Bundesliga . In the 2009/10 season he scored ten goals in a total of 53 games and provided 20 templates.

In the 2010/11 season, which was ended prematurely due to the Tōhoku earthquake , he won the championship of the Asia League Ice Hockey for the first time after his return to Japan as team captain with the Tohoku Free Blades , as their captain he acts. In the regular season he was top scorer and top scorer of all AIHL players as well as the most valuable player in the league. In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2012 , 2013 . when he was voted best player on his team in 2014 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 . He has been the captain of the Japanese selection since 2013. He also represented his home country in the qualifying tournaments for the 2010 , 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics and at the 2007 , 2011 and 2017 Asian Winter Games . At the Asian Winter Games, he won a bronze, a silver and a gold medal with Japan.
