Origin and meaning

Gabriele is the feminine form of the male given name Gabriel in German . In Italian, however, Gabriele is the male form of the German Gabriel. The form Gabriela is a feminine given name. Due to this fact, Gabriele is only eligible for registration in Switzerland, where both German and Italian are the national languages, in combination with another, clear first name (such as Andrea or Simone too).

Evangelical name day is March 24th . The Catholic name day is September 29th . One of the archangels in the Bible is called Gabriel ( Hebrew "hero of God").
