Simone is a first name . In German-speaking countries , Simone is a female given name, the male form is Simon ; In Italian-speaking countries , Simone is a male given name, the female form is Simona . The name is derived from the name Simon and is therefore of both Hebrew and Greek origin. It has different meanings in the respective languages.

Origin and meaning

The name Simone developed from the male name Simon . This can be derived on the one hand from the Hebrew name Schוֹן ( Schim damiton ) and thus from the root word for "(to) hear", which is why the name is often given the meaning "God has heard", on the other hand from the Greek adjective for "snub-nosed “Σιμός ( simos ), with which Simon means“ the snub- nosed one ”.
