geophon - Urlaub im Ohr is a Berlin audio book publisher that produces audio books on the subject of travel .
Publishing history
founding
The audio publishing house geophon - Urlaub im Ohr was founded in 2001 in Münster by the journalists Reinhard Kober and Matthias Morgenroth, who previously worked as radio journalists for various ARD broadcasters . The publisher's concept is based on the form of the radio feature : original tones , sounds and music are mixed together with the spoken text. The interviews and sounds are recorded by the authors on their research trips on site. The interlocutors include residents of cities and regions who talk about their everyday lives as well as experts and artists , such as B. the musician Regy Clasen ( walk through Hamburg ), the TV presenter and author Tine Wittler ( walk through Hamburg ), the singer Sebastian Krumbiegel ( walk through Leipzig ) and the writer Michael Roes ( journey through Egypt ).
In the year it was founded, the first four travel audio books were produced on Rome , New York , Paris and Venice . The Frankfurter Eichborn Verlag took over the distribution of geophon travel hearing books in the German-speaking book trade until 2011 , since then Steinbach speaking books has been the distribution partner of geophon - Urlaub im Ohr .

Before moving to Berlin in 2004, over ten different productions were made, including a. via Egypt , Barcelona , Mallorca , London and Vienna . From 2004 the publishing house published his travel audiobooks in two series: the series Vacations in the ear with a classic design and in the special edition with the series title stroll through ... and loved ... .
Since 2010, the series have been merged with revised new editions or new publications in a new design and the booklets have been edited accordingly. The new editions include a. Journey through Scotland and journey through Norway .
Together with the publishing house Digital publishing , geophon - Urlaub im Ohr brought out the Fernweh series from 2008 , which contains foreign-language travel audio books (including language holidays in New York ). These are translations of the travel audiobooks into the respective national language to practice listening. In the booklet there is a copy of the text with explanations of words.
Current
In addition to developing and publishing travel audio books, the publisher also acts as a production company for audio productions. Among the productions include editing, directing and recording of audiobooks , z. B. 1000 days in Venice by Magdalena De Blasi and The Healer of Canterbury by Celia L.
