history

The Greensboro Generals played in the Eastern Hockey League from 1959 to 1973 . Subsequently, after the temporary setting of the Eastern Hockey League as a founding member, they continued to play in the Southern Hockey League . The team always finished in the rear of the SHL and only came in over fifth place in their first SHL season . After the 1976/77 season was canceled prematurely for financial reasons and the league was discontinued, the Greensboro Generals also stopped playing.

A team of the same name took part in the game operations of the East Coast Hockey League from 1989 to 1995 .
