Gudum Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) on the island of Sjælland in southern Denmark . Until 1970 it belonged to Harde Slagelse Herred in what was then Sorø Amt , then to Slagelse Kommune in Vestsjællands Amt , which was merged into the “new” Slagelse Kommune in the Sjælland region on January 1, 2007 as part of the local government reform .
The name "Gudum" means home of gods and comes from the Viking Age .
98 inhabitants live in the parish (as of January 1, 2020). The church "Gudum Kirke" is located in the parish.
Neighboring communities are Sønderup Sogn in the north, Sorterup Sogn in the northeast, Ottestrup Sogn in the southeast and Nørrevang Sogn in the southwest .
