Tjæreby Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) on the island of Sjælland in Denmark . Until 1970 it belonged to Harde Vester Flakkebjerg Herred in what was then Sorø Amt , then to Skælskør Kommune in Vestsjællands Amt , which was merged into Slagelse Municipality in the Sjælland region as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .

716 inhabitants live in the parish (as of January 1, 2020). In the parish is the church "Tjæreby Kirke".

Neighboring municipalities are Magleby Sogn in the west, Eggeslevmagle Sogn in the north, Høve Sogn in the northeast and Sønder Bjerge Sogn and Ørslev Sogn in the east .
