Vemmelev Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) on the island of Sjælland in southern Denmark . Until 1970 it belonged to the Harde Slagelse Herred in what was then Sorø Amt , then to Korsør Kommune in Vestsjællands Amt , which became part of the Slagelse Kommune in the Sjælland region as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .

2938 inhabitants live in the parish, 2525 of them in the parish village of Forlev (as of January 1, 2020). In the parish is the church "Vemmelev Kirke".

Neighboring communities are Kirke Stillinge Sogn in the north, Hejninge Sogn in the northeast, Hemmeshøj Sogn in the east, Boeslunde Sogn in the south and Tårnborg Sogn in the west .
