Brunehaut is a municipality in the province of Hainaut in the Walloon part of Belgium and borders France to the south . In the area of the municipality, the Scheldt crosses the Franco-Belgian border.

The municipality consists of the localities of Bléharies, Guignies, Hollain, Howardries, Jollain-Merlin, Laplaigne, Lesdain, Rongy and Wez-Velvain .

The Brunehaut stone / Pierre de Brunehaut in Hollain marks the intersection of two old Roman roads in the municipality

The name of the municipality goes back to the old Roman road running through the municipality from Cambrai in France to Tournai , which, like most of the old Roman roads in what is now Belgium, was called Chaussée Brunehaut in the Middle Ages , which can be traced back to the Frankish queen Brunichild .
