Gustav Ferdinand Stein von Kamienski (born December 22, 1791 in Berent , † September 15, 1875 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Gustav was a son of the District President of Bromberg Johann Salomo Stein von Kaminski (1762-1828) and his wife Karoline Dorothea, née Diehm (1771-1838). His older brother Karl (1789–1872) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Military career

Kamienski entered on April 20, 1805 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Chlebowsky" of the Prussian army and was promoted to ensign until January 1806 . As such, he took part in the defense against France in 1806/07 . After the Peace of Tilsit , Kamienski was employed as a second lieutenant in the 1st Silesian Infantry Regiment . In mid-August 1808 he was first aggregated to the 4th East Prussian Infantry Regiment and on April 2, 1810 Kanienski was assigned to the 2nd East Prussian Infantry Regiment . With this association he took part in 1812 on the side of France during the campaign against Russia in the battles near Tomoszna, Eckau , Graevelthal and Friedrichstadt .

In the Wars of Liberation against France in 1812/14, Kamienski was used in the battles near Wittenberg , Luckau , La Chaussée and Montmirail, as well as in the battles near Laon and Paris . At Löwenberg he was wounded and awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class. After the war, Kamienski was promoted to captain and company commander until mid-October 1816 . From April 1, 1820 to July 1, 1821 he was in command of the Infantry Training Battalion. At the end of June 1825, Kamienski was promoted to Captain I. Class. With his promotion to major on March 30, 1830, he became commander of the III. Battalions in the 3rd Landwehr Regiment in Angerburg . From January 20, 1837, he was employed as a battalion commander in the 1st Infantry Regiment , and in this position he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on September 10, 1840 . On April 28, 1842, he was initially assigned to lead the 36th Infantry Regiment and on September 12, 1842, Kamienski was appointed regiment commander. He was promoted to colonel on March 22, 1843 and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III on January 18, 1844 . Class with ribbon and on September 23, 1847 the Order of St. John . After Kamienski had taken command of the 10th Landwehr Brigade in Poznan on May 13, 1848 , he was aggregated to the 36th Infantry Regiment on June 22, 1848 and promoted to major general on May 8, 1849. He participated in the November 6, 1851 his farewell to board and was on 25 October 1857 his pension for disposition made.

Kamienski married Angelika Adelheid von Wrangel (1804-1888) from the Kurkenfeld house on November 22, 1822 in Königsberg . She was a daughter of the Prussian Lieutenant General August Friedrich Ludwig von Wrangel . The following children were born from the marriage:
