Detloff Gustav Friedrich Wilhelm von der Heyde (born August 12, 1785 in Bodenhagen , † August 4, 1863 in Schweidnitz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

He was the son of the Prussian staff captain a. D. Johann Daniel von der Heyde (born March 16, 1750 in Nyborg (Denmark); † November 13, 1808) and his wife Johanna Dorothea, née Le Tanneux von Saint Paul (* October 27, 1765; † September 15, 1854) . His brother Friedrich Johann Adrian (1790–1850) became a Brunswick lieutenant colonel and commandant of Wolfenbüttel .

Military career

Heyde took effect on 25 September 1798 as a corporal corporal in the infantry regiment "of Tschammer" the Prussian army and advanced to December 1805 second lieutenant . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the battle near Berkel and was captured when the Hameln Fortress surrendered .

After the Peace of Tilsit Heyde came into the Colberg Infantry Regiment . He retired soon from, joined in 1809 as a first lieutenant of the black crowd of the Duke of Brunswick and became in the same year captain and company commander . There Heyde was promoted to colonel on March 30, 1835 with a patent from April 8, 1835 . From August 18, 1837 to March 29, 1840 he acted as commander of the 6th Infantry Regiment . On October 17, 1838, Heyde received permission to wear the Peninsula Medal awarded to him for the campaign in Spain 1810/12 . On March 30, 1840, he was promoted to command of the 11th Landwehr Brigade in Breslau and on September 10, 1840 to major general. In 1841 he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. On April 7, 1842 he was transferred to Stettin as commander of the 3rd Landwehr Brigade. This was followed by a position as commander of the Neisse fortress from March 31, 1846. As such, Heyde was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Henry the Lion on April 21, 1846 . On July 8, 1848 Heyde received his departure with the character of lieutenant general and the statutory pension . He died on August 4, 1863 in Schweidnitz.

In his assessment in 1825, Colonel Düring wrote : “With a somewhat violent character he combines a lot of morality, good scientific training and a lot of eagerness to serve. Strictly in the highest service, he watches over the execution of higher orders and the maintenance of discipline. His subordinate battalion therefore enjoys excellent training and order, which he also leads with great care. "

Heyde married Sophie Wilhelmine Chmelick on November 1, 1815 in Berlin (* May 2, 1791; † September 5, 1879). The couple had several children:
