Həsən Əliyev [ hæsæn ælɪjev ] ( English Hasan Aliyev ; born November 14, 1989 in Kosalar , Azerbaijani SSR , USSR ) is an Azerbaijani wrestler . He was 2010 European champion and world champion in Greco-Roman style in featherweight .

Career

Həsən Əliyev started wrestling in 1997 as a teenager. He is a member of the Neftchi Baku sports club and focuses on the Greco-Roman style. Since 2003 he has been trained by Wagif Feyzullah. He's a student.

Həsən Əliyev was extremely successful as a junior. In his first participation in an international championship, the Junior European Championship of Cadets (age group up to the age of 16), he took second place in Istanbul in the weight class up to 45 kg behind Roman Vlasov from Russia . Of course, he had to pay a little hardship at the international junior championships in 2007. He came in at the Junior European Championships in Belgrade only on 13th place and in the Junior World Championships in Beijing only 15th place, both times in the weight class up to 55 kg body weight. But just a year later he became Junior European Champion in Košice in the weight class up to 55 kg, ahead of Alexandar Kostadinow from Bulgaria and Ivan Tatarinow from Russia.

In 2009 Həsən Əliyev was first in Tbilisi Junior European Champion in the weight class up to 60 kg ahead of Achil Turmanidze from Georgia and a little later in Ankara also Junior World Champion ahead of Rahman Bilici from Turkey . He continued this success in 2010 with the seniors in the same weight class. In April 2010 in Baku he became European champion with four victories and defeated Konstantin Balizki from Belarus in the final and in September 2010 he won in Moscow with victories over Tonimir Sokol from Croatia , Iwo Angelow from Bulgaria , Ruslan Tümönbajew from Kyrgyzstan , Almat Kebispajew from Kazakhstan and Ryūtarō Matsumoto from Japan the world title.

In 2011 he was no longer so successful. At the European Championships in Dortmund , he won a bronze medal . He lost it in the semifinals against Rewas Laschchi from Georgia and won this bronze medal with a victory over Eusebiu Diaconu from Romania . At the World Cup in Istanbul he surprisingly lost to Luis Ignacio Liendo from Venezuela after winning three fights . Since this did not reach the final, he was eliminated and only reached the 7th place.

In 2012 Həsən Əliyev then switched to lightweight. He started in June this year at the German Grand Prix in Dormagen and lost there in the final battle against Frank Stäbler from Germany. For the Olympic Games in London in 2012 he trained again in the featherweight division. In London he won over Stig Andre Berge, Norway and Jung Ji-hyun , South Korea and lost to Rewas Laschchi , Georgia and Saur Kuramagomedow from Russia. With that he finished 5th.

Since 2013 he has finally been wrestling in the lightweight. At the European Championships this year in Tbilisi he won over Jaroslaw Kardasch, Belarus, Aleksandar Maksimović , Serbia and Nikolai Sawchenko, Ukraine, lost to Adam Kurak from Russia and secured a bronze medal with a victory in the consolation round over Olympic third-party Manuchar Tschadaia , Georgia. At the 2013 World Cup in Budapest, Həsən Əliyev just missed a medal. He won there in the lightweight over Dominik Ettlinger, Croatia, Ruslan Tümönbajew, Kyrgyzstan, Atakan Yüksel, Turkey and the Olympic winners Tamás Lőrincz , Hungary, but then lost to Islambek Albijew from Russia and Frank Stäbler from Germany. He came in 5th place.

He was not seen on the international wrestling mat until April 2014. He started at the European Championships in Vantaa / Finland. After victories over Marius Thommesen, Denmark, Frank Stäbler, Vladimiros Marias, Greece and Dawid Karecinski, Poland, he faced Adam Kurak in the final battle. In a tough and even fight, he led 2-1 points until three seconds before the end. At this point, both wrestlers had two warnings each for passivity. Three seconds before the end, the referee gave Həsən Əliyev the third passivity warning, which disqualified him and Adam Kurak was the new European champion. With all due respect for the referees, this decision was extremely unfortunate 3 seconds before the end and punished Həsən Əliyev with the loss of the title. In addition, Həsən Əliyev's passivity was not really recognizable at this point in time.
