The Hector International Airport ( IATA airport code : FAR , ICAO code : Kfar ) is the airport of the city of Fargo in Cass County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of North Dakota . Hector International Airport is the largest airport in North Dakota and the most important air traffic hub in the metropolitan area of Fargo – Moorhead and the adjacent areas in eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota .
Part of the airport is the base of the 119th Wing , a unit of the North Dakota Air National Guard . Here are Learjets the military version C-21 stationed; also be here with operations Predator - drones operated.
The airport was the target of the plane that crashed in 1959 with musicians Buddy Holly , Ritchie Valens and J. P. Richardson .
location
The 1000 hectare area is located within the urban area of Fargo, around six kilometers north of the center. A few hundred meters east of the airport flows the Red River of North , which forms the border with the neighboring state of Minnesota.
The airport is connected via University Drive to North Dakota State University, which is immediately south of it, as well as downtown Fargo, which is further along. West of the airport is Interstate 29 , which is the shortest connection from Kansas City in Missouri and Winnipeg in the Canadian province of Manitoba .
Airport facilities
The airport has three runways that are paved with concrete. There is a passenger terminal with a baggage handling system and five passenger boarding bridges . Several rental car companies have bases in the reception building.
