Herbert Wetterauer (born April 21, 1957 in Karlsruhe ) is a German painter , sculptor and author .

Life

Wetterauer grew up in Karlsruhe, where, after school and civil service at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe at Per Kirkeby and Albrecht von Hancke Fine Arts and at the Karlsruhe University German studied. From 1980 to 1983 he worked for the Karlsruhe culture magazine Kultur in Karlsruhe (KiK) , for which he mainly wrote art and literary reviews, but also critical reports from everyday life and where numerous of his cartoons and illustrations for short stories by other authors were published. Since 1979 he has participated in exhibitions. The individual presentations also included international exhibition institutions (1983 separate space at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden ). His artistic work is consistently representational. Initially committed to magical realism and socio-critical tendencies in painting, in 1987 he increasingly turned to sculpture, where the female figure became the dominant theme of his work. Works by him are in private and public collections.

In 2009 his first novel was published under the title Stromness , which was followed by the novels You shouldn't trust and tod.com . Wetterauer is a member of the BBK and lives in Wörth am Rhein near Karlsruhe.
