The Hermann Art Foundation for the Promotion of New Testament Text Research supports and promotes the work of the Institute for New Testament Text Research founded by Kurt Aland in 1959 .

It is a foundation under private law and has its seat in Münster .

The foundation bodies are the board of directors, the board of trustees and the scientific advisory board.

Origin and tasks

The Foundation for the Promotion of New Testament Text Research was established in 1964 and renamed in 1977 after its founder, Bishop Hermann Kunst (1907–1999), in the Hermann Art Foundation for the Promotion of New Testament Text Research. Men such as Federal President Theodor Heuss and Bishop Otto Dibelius were at his side in establishing it. With the support of the foundation, work on the New Testament and its reconstruction was and is being secured. The fruits of this funding include the Novum Testamentum Graece ("Nestle-Aland") and the Editio Critica Maior , which is still in the making .

Since the foundation's establishment, both the board, the board of trustees and the scientific advisory board of the Hermann-Kunst-Stiftung have been made up of outstanding personalities from science, politics and business. Leading foreign text researchers belong to the scientific advisory board.
