Mr. Colonel have a quirk (original title: Il colonnello Buttiglione diventa generale ) is an Italian military comedy from 1974 . He appeared as a feature film in the film distribution of Constantin Film on August 22, 1975. Directed led Mino Guerrini , performers have included Aldo Maccione and Jacques Dufilho .

action

Colonel Buttiglione and his adjutant , Sergeant Mastino, have to deal with incompetent recruits , dodgy superiors and soldiers who are only serving their time. After his regiment a maneuver of NATO almost sabotaged has and unintentional explosions caused damage, he is summarily to General appointed.

At the end of the film, Buttiglione dies when the birthday cake he has been given by comrades is mistakenly decorated with dynamite sticks instead of candles. He then goes to hell and meets Mastino again, who, however, reveals himself to be Mephisto .

Running gags of the film are the episodes about a paratrooper whose umbrella gets caught in the tail unit of the machine and who is in radio contact with Buttiglione the whole time, Lieutenant Mariani, who repeatedly falls into an open gully when getting out of his car , and finally Buttigliones repeated attempts to communicate with a supply point at which he mistakenly with members of the Catholic Church is joined - first with a nun, then a member of the Swiss Guard , and finally with the Pope in person, so that Buttiglione's angry tirade during a general audience on St. Peter's Square on Speakers can be heard.
